Welcome to

(formerly Church Initiative of Lakewood)

People in America are lonelier than ever and feel disconnected from God, their community, and even themselves.

At the same time, there is a rise in those who have no religious connection and feel alienated from the church. Our dream for Resilience Church is to reach out to those who feel disconnected and are looking for a deeper, more meaningful life, pointing towards Jesus as the only one who can fulfill the emptiness in all of us. This is most effectively accomplished through new churches, where people who are searching, skeptical, or hesitant about Christianity can find it easier and less intimidating to explore questions of faith while establishing a new community.

I’m Danielle Reeves, the lead church planter with Resilience Church. My husband David and I have four kids: Cole (not pictured - off at college in Arizona!), Brennan, Aubrey, and Micah. Our family has lived in South Jefferson County for almost two decades; God has given us a deep love for our community that we live out by caring for and serving those with whom we come in contact.

I have been fortunate to be able to serve in a variety of ministry leadership roles over the years. I have had the opportunity to foster and lead church collaborations, build bridges between the faith community and the Human Services Department, and help people identify their gifts and strengths to meet the needs of the city. Now God is inviting us into a new season, in which we have the opportunity to expand his Kingdom reach by starting a new church in Lakewood in the fall of 2020.

At Resilience Church, our goal is to create a place of Christian community for those who are looking for connections with God and others by addressing the spiritual, physical, and emotional needs of the community. This begins by gathering weekly in worship, better understanding God’s influence in our lives, and participating in the Lord’s supper with those from across the generations. It then continues at our own tables, where we have the opportunity to reveal the love of Christ to all by offering that same grace and hospitality he has given to us.

Walk together on the journey to love and live like Jesus.

Create connections and build relational bridges.

Meet the spiritual, emotional, and physical needs of the community.

Pray that Resilience Church will be a church that communicates the Good News of Jesus through the relationships we build. Pray that we, along with the city of Lakewood, would be a community known for its care for those who are lonely, seeking friendship, inclusion or guidance.

Church plants deeply impact our cities. As individuals encounter the life-changing reality of the Gospel, their worlds are changed. Those changed lives then come into contact with others, profoundly effecting the broader community. As the apostle Paul points out, “A little yeast works through the whole batch of dough (Galatians 5:9).” Launching a new church brings the light of God’s Kingdom to the darkest corners of our city.
